Misc. Travelin Dolly Information |
| What kind/brand of Doll is Travelin Dolly? | |
| The
following information is from The Small Doll Book by Carol J
Stover. The page is about Terri Lee dolls (and Tiny Terri Lee)
dressed as Girl Scouts and Brownies. There were also Ginger dolls sold
under the Terri Lee name. On page 186 it also says that about 1956
was when the Terri Lee Co. introduced the 8" toddler type Girl
Scout and Brownie dolls using large eye, molded lash Ginger dolls
purchased from Cosmopolitan and that they were first-quality dolls with
brunette or blonde Saran wigs set in fluffy, curled up styles. More - ...."Other Terri Lee dolls were added to the family, like 10" Tiny Terri Lee and unmarked 10: Linda Baby. These smaller dolls did not directly compete in the toddler or Ginnette look-alike market. However, c. 1956 Terri Lee Co. did introduce 8" toddler type Girl Scout and Brownie dolls using large eye, molded lash Ginger dolls purchased from Cosmopolitan. They were first-quality dolls with brunette or blonde Saran wigs set fluffy, curled up styles. These dolls are very collectible today." Does say doll is unmarked, head-turning walker with sleep eyes and molded lashes; mold lines through center of the ear; straight arms with separate fingers and C-shaped hooks; straight legs with toe detal; some had bent knees. Note: This is the same doll body as wide or medium eye Ginger dolls (See Cosmopolitan section). Value is $75.00 dressed; $100+ in box. The picture is darling - her hair has quite tight curls with red ribbons on both sides |
