7th. Stop              February 28, 2004          Oregon

Dolly comes back to the good old USA for a stop in Oregon with Airborne_boyee!

Since both of Airborn_boyee's sons are military she wanted to give something special to Dolly related to the military.
Dolly meets the German snob sisters and they presented her with a Blue Star Quilt.

Display of the Service Star Banner first came about during World War I.  During WWI and WWII most flags were hand made by mothers across the nation.  One of the most famous flags was that of the five Sullivan brothers who all  perished on the U.S.S. Juneau.
Each blue star on the flag represents a service member in active duty. A gold star is displayed if a service member is killed in action or dies in service. If several stars are displayed in one family the gold star takes the honor of being placed at the top.
Display of a Service Star Banner is done during times of war. Once again families are displaying banners at home.
After arriving in Oregon from Canada, Dolly wanted to stretch her legs a bit and took a walk around the neighborhood.
Taking a minute to admire some early Daffodils.

Dolly  entertained herself a bit. playing ball with new 4-legged friend Kae Gogi

And she looked around in the doll cabinet but didn't make it much further than the shelf filled with things her host's sons have brought home from their travels.  There is a sphinx from Egypt, plates from Egypt and Kosovo, doll from Bulgaria and Korea, Korean fan, various coins and Sadam money. Also the beer stein came from Uday's palace in Baghdad. Dolly was pretty intrigued with all of her finds!
