Dolly arrived
in Newark, Delaware late afternoon on Sat 12/4
and was here through the weekend 12/12. During
her stay she visited the Delaware Doll, Toy &
Miniature Museum where she saw many little
treasures from the past. She had mid day tea in
the Ladies Tea Room at the Hagley Museum where
she learned that is where the DuPont family
legacy began. Then Dolly took in an afternoon
tour in Historic Old New Castle where William
Penn and other signers of the Constitution
lived. She saw a lot of Delaware and our
country's history in the old towne square and
the courthouse.
I think the
highlight of her visit though was when she was
invited as the special guest of honor at a local
Girl Scout Court of Awards ceremony. When
finding out that Dolly was originally a Brownie
Scout doll they thought it only fitting to
present Dolly with the Brownie Try it "Traveler"
badge. Everyone agreed that she has definitely
earned it with all the traveling she did this
year. She had fun at the meeting and even
joined in making some crafts which she packed up
to take with her. A cute snowman made from a
washcloth and a pretty little tea light candle
holder that she rubbed a transfer onto.
Dolly says...
I sure had fun playing with all of Ms Suebees's
dollys. She has a lot of them with her at her
parent's house but I was so sad to hear from her
girls about all those poor babies that had to
go into that cold storage unit. I also got to
meet Ms Suebees's newest dolly, a really pretty
A/O Honey. Ms suebees was so funny when she
opened her up out of that box though because the
very first thing she did was sniff her arm and
leg holes ???? I'm sure she took a bath before
she left for her trip, I know I always do. Ms
suebees was soooooo happy that Honey didn't
stink she started singing a silly song. "I've
got a sweet honey who doesn't stink at all
funny, oh just look how pretty she is". (psst.
she really, really is pretty but don't tell the
Tonis & Sues I said that or they'll get real
jealous). The Ginnys, Wannabees, Patsyettes,
Tiny Anne & Betsy, and the Madeline girls all
shared their toys and things with me. We had
lots of fun playing in between my trips with Ms
Suebees. I was sad to leave my new friends but
excited to be on my way to my next stop in South
Carolina. Ms Suebees told me to watch for the
signs that say "South of the Border" so I sure
hope it's warmer down there than it was here
this week.
