25th. Stop             October 1, 2004          Fort Smith, Arkansas

Dolly making more new friends visiting "sweet*n*deadlydesigns" in Fort Smith, Arkansas...

The first thing Dolly noticed when she arrived at her host's home in Fort Smith was the door mat. She doesn't speak Gaelic so she was glad there was a translation!

The first person to greet her was a very excited 2yr old Liam.

Since dolly looked very tired after her long trip, Liam invited her to take a nap with him. So she did.

After her nap she was feeling much better. She went into the dining room to meet the "big" girls. Brunette Saucy welcomed her. "We have been waiting all year for you to come visit us, Dolly!"

Then Dolly noticed something very strange. A bunch of the medium sized girls were in a laundry basket! She climbed up to ask blonde Toni what was going on. Toni told her that they just got back from being on display in the Fort Smith Library and Mom didn't get to unpack them yet. Dolly thought that was very cool!

Tomorrow Dolly is going to have her hair done and meet the little dolls for a tea party and some play time. She goes to bed on her host's couch. Goodnight Dolly! Better close your eyes!

Dolly got up Friday morning and first watch a little bit of Liam's favorite movie, Toy Story, with him
She hung out with me as I had my morning coffee and checked my email. She thought the coffee was for her. She said some of her other hosts let her have some. So who ever did that better fess up!!

Next Dolly got ready to have her hair done. She was a little scruffy looking from all her adventures so I gave her a shampoo and set.

Dolly was in a hurry to meet with the Ginny's so she had me blow dry her hair while she caught up on a little reading.
Dolly shows off her new do.

Dolly meets with the Ginny's and an Alexanderkin for gifts and a tea party. All the Ginny's line up to present their Arkansas themed gifts to Dolly.

Dolly looks pleased with all her Razorback goodies. Whoooooo Pig Soooooie!!!

Dolly looks for a spot to add a Razorback sticker to her trunk.

All the girls gather for tea.
Saturday morning Dolly went to the part with Liam.
Dolly gets ready to go down the slide.

She is a little nervous so she goes down with Liam and his friend Autumn.
Sunday morning DH, DS, Dolly, and I took a trip down town to visit some of the historical sights.
Dolly is glad she doesn't have to travel in this mail coach! That would be one long and bumpy ride!

Next she poses in a memorial that was built from the original stones of the fort.

Next is the old court and jail.
This building was originally an Army barracks in the early 1800's. It then became a federal courthouse and jail in 1872. From 1871-1889 the basement was known as the "Hell on the Border Jail" where two cells each held 30-50 inmates at one time. Those inmates faced Federal Judge Isaac C. Parker, "The Hanging Judge".
What is that eerie light in the photo??? Very strange!!!

An old fort cannon and a covered wagon.

This building is the 1846 Commissary Storehouse and is the oldest standing building in Fort Smith.

The old school building in the historic district. Dolly likes the old architecture. The building has been converted to an apartment house.

Our final stop was Miss Laura's. It is now the visitors center. It has been restored to it's original 1899 condition and believed to be the only brothel that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Dolly had so much fun learning about Judge Parker and the old west Fort Smith that she wants to watch "True Grit". I told her maybe I'd rent it for her tomorrow!
